Bio: I have been playing the saxophone since I was 8 years old and in the course of time I have trained myself in other instruments like the guitar, bass and piano. When I was in my early 20s, I also began to build riddims and produce music. Since then I have been able to carry out my creativity in different live projects, inter alia, with Shalamanda HiFi, Skaputnik and CellaRootz, and I have recorded for international producers such as Ashanti Selah, Sir Logie International, Moa Anbessa and Culture Rock.
As a teenager I was inspired by listening to jazz, punk and ska music. My older band colleagues at the time eventually introduced me to reggae, to which I have been addicted to ever since. My love for dub and sound system culture in particular occurred when I started to play concerts with my friend Niko, who is the sound operator of Austria’s heavyweight soundsystem by the name of Shalamanda HiFi. He was definitely a huge influence and teacher in this regard.
During my periodical trips to Jamaica, I immersed myself in the reggae scene of Kingston and Ocho Rios. My musical voyage thus resulted in different collaborations and studio work with the likes of Fred Locks, Caveman and Paketo Wilson. Playing the guitars for the Jungle Fayah Band and backing legendary artist Sizzla at a stage show in Kingston in 2012, was one of my musical highlights so far.
Recently, I established my own record label Anaves Music, on which I promote different artists as well as my own works. In collaboration with exceptional producers, musicians and engineers, my vision is to think beyond boundaries and detect an explosive mixture of music and sounds.
